Haiti Sister Church
How It Started: For over 20 years Creekside Community Church, with the help of Reciprocal Ministries International (RMI), has had a sister church relationship with a church in Baraderes, Haiti.

Many of us from Creekside have made visits to Baraderes and now know some of our Haitian brothers and sisters by name. We’ve worked with them to build the church parsonage, paint their church, build church and school furniture, and do roof repairs. Together we’ve evangelized in the community and outlying areas, shown the Jesus film, organized retreats, and provided community medical assistance. We make annual visits. Consider going yourself!

Why Help is Needed
Poverty in Haiti is severe, and everyone in our sister church struggles economically. Among their many needs is education. Most parents are simply unable to afford schooling, schoolbooks, or even adequate clothing for their children.

How Sponsorship Works
RMI coordinates an education sponsorship program called “Hope For Kids”. Many individuals and families from Creekside have been a part of this sponsorship program. Their donation of $250 per school year is used to cover tuition, books, shoes, school uniforms, a medical examination, and administrative costs. As well as providing for the children, this program provides for the school staff (assuring them of a small income) and eases the parents’ financial burden.

Sponsorship operates year-by-year, but most of the children need financial help throughout their six-year elementary education. Some Creekside members have sponsored their student(s) on a continuing basis, over the years exchanging letters and photographs, and seeing the child grow. Many sponsors have met their sponsored student while visiting our sister church as part of a Creekside team.
