By Michael Roop
This Sunday, our fall selection of Sundays at 9 courses kicks off. These courses, offered at 9 am on Sunday mornings, are designed to help us love God with our minds. As we increasingly see the world through a Christian worldview, we are able to love God and be about His mission with increasing fruitfulness.
A Cancer Doctor Wrestles with Job (Fellowship Hall)
This six-week class will explore the book of Job and what it has to say to those suffering in the 21st century. In an age of information and technology where we seem to avoid pain and suffering at all costs, we need the wisdom of Job now more than ever. We will read sizable portions of the text and try to put ourselves in the place Job and others who have or are truly suffering. To accomplish this we will consider the historical context, the poetic form and the theology underlying the discourses of each of the characters: Job, Eliphaz, Zophar, Bildad, and Elihu. Finally we will listen to God’s response both within the text and then as our Incarnate Lord Jesus.
The Generations Tell Their Stories of Life with God (Creekside Women, FC 2)
Each week, a Creekside sister will tell her story of life with Christ. She will use a passage from Scripture to frame her story and encourage the class. Women, you will want to be part of this! No guys allowed.
Later This Fall...
On Sunday, October 20, we’ll switch gears with two new classes. The Bible, Gender, and Sexuality will take five weeks to explore what the Bible has to say about these current topics. The other will be Welcome to the Family, our course for those interested in pursuing membership at Creekside.
As always, our main courses (those offered in the Fellowship Hall) will be recorded and available online. If you have to miss a Sunday, check out our website, or find us on Apple Podcasts, Google Play Music, or Spotify, and get yourself up to date!
Next week, we will begin a four-part series looking at Creekside’s values: Bible, Prayer, Hospitality, and Mission. Until then, have a great weekend, and we hope to see you on Sunday!
